This was on display in one of my local Waterstones and my goodness, what a fantastic book it is. For anyone who has any interest in children’s books or illustration and design; this is a fantastic, inspirational book.

Divided in to seven chapters, the book gives a history of picture books, explores the appeal to a child, traces print processes and all the developments in between and features case studies of some fantastic authors and illustrators. And finally the book¬†showcases the children’s publishing industry in all its glory.

A truly wonderful book to absorb and you are guaranteed to come across an illustration from at least one picture book from your childhood. This book is a celebration of everything that is wonderful about picture books and really cements the idea that picture books can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
