This was on display in one of my local Waterstones and my goodness, what a fantastic book it is. For anyone who has any interest in children’s books or illustration and design; this is a fantastic, inspirational book.
Divided in to seven chapters, the book gives a history of picture books, explores the appeal to a child, traces print processes and all the developments in between and features case studies of some fantastic authors and illustrators. And finally the book showcases the children’s publishing industry in all its glory.
A truly wonderful book to absorb and you are guaranteed to come across an illustration from at least one picture book from your childhood. This book is a celebration of everything that is wonderful about picture books and really cements the idea that picture books can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
